Hailing from the swamps of Northeast Florida, Megan McKenzie has been a lifelong vocalist, fronting bands and winning multiple vocal awards. She found a love of piano two years ago when Covid found us all looking for new joys. Since then, she’s written a full album, her first as a solo artist, which is currently being recorded, and has performed all over North Florida and South Georgia. When she’s not singing or writing music, she’s probably getting lost in the woods, riding her bike, or eating pasta.

Embracing Positive Trends: Local Communities, Streaming Platforms, and Monetization

We shifted gears to discuss positive trends and innovations in the music industry. We explored the rise of community-based initiatives, such as the San Francisco Public Library’s “Bay Beats” platform, which showcases local artists. We discussed the growing trend of artists breaking away from traditional gatekeepers, finding ways to directly connect with their audiences while monetizing their craft.
